Visual Arts News seeks a web intern

Visual Arts News seeks a sharp, self-motivated web intern with a solid grasp of art history and critical theory, who’s passionate about generating critical discussion about the work of artists in the Atlantic Region. You’re a regular at exhibition openings and artist talks, with your finger on the pulse of the contemporary art scene. You’re technologically savvy, regularly comb art blogs and are keen to expand the online presence of critics and artists in the Atlantic Canadian art community. You’re a tight writer with a sharp eye for detail, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to meet deadlines.

The internship will provide the intern with the exciting opportunity to create content for a new online section of the print magazine and get involved in our online expansion from the ground up. The internship is unpaid and designed for a recent graduate or returning student hoping to gain practical work experience in the media world. Visual Arts News’ web intern will work 10 hours per week remotely to create short and snappy blog posts, update our exhibition listings section, contribute to online discussions about visual art via our social media platforms, document exhibition openings and art events and engage in regular Skype meetings with the editor. This is a fun, fast-paced and creative opportunity for someone eager to hit the ground running.

Visual Arts News is the only magazine dedicated to contemporary visual art in Atlantic Canada. Written in a clear and sophisticated style by some of the most talented arts writers in Atlantic Canada, Visual Arts News reflects the diversity of geographic and cultural communities in the Atlantic region.
