New Equity Subsidy for Schools

Visual Arts Nova Scotia is offering an Equity Subsidy to support PAINTS (Professional Artists In The Schools) workshops in schools serving significant populations of BIPOC students. The PAINTS Equity Subsidy will support qualifying schools by fully funding projects including the artist fee, materials and any travel costs. Workshops are usually 3 – 4 hours in length for up to 30 students at a time.

This policy has been created to support greater access to this artist-in-the-schools program. PAINTS serves our youngest community members, enhancing their participation in art-making and appreciation. In this initial year, we’re dedicating 20% of the total project hours to this initiative. Schools will self-identify, and requests will be fulfilled on a first-come, first-served basis until the funding is exhausted. Go to https://visualarts.ns.ca/paints/paints-workshops/, Look through the workshops that are being offered, and request one for your class. When you do, be sure to click the box to say you’re requesting the Equity Subsidy. Questions? Message Andrea at paints@visualarts.ns.caFall Deadline for Workshop Requests: October 3.
