Visual Arts News magazine’s new look!
As you may have noticed, there have been some big changes at Visual Arts News magazine! First, there was the move to a perfect bind, which meant 12 additional pages filled with great artists each issue. Then, the Visual Arts News website was completely redesigned and is now much easier to navigate and a great place to find more exclusive online content, including podcasts!
The Spring 2018 issue of Visual Arts News magazine is out and it’s pretty great (if we do say so ourselves). In this issue artist Mario Doucette questions and reinterprets depictions of Acadian history in Redrawing the Margins/ Redessiner les marges; artist (and former VANS Mentorship Program participant) Ryan Josey explores queer identity by subverting nautical language; artist Stephanie Wu unpacks internet culture, the idea of safe spaces and allies. Also in the Identities in Flux issue are articles on Margaret Nicholson’s recent exhibition at the Museum of Industry, Michael Flaherty’s conceptual ceramics, and Nzingha Millar’s feature on how artists in Bodies in Translation tackle art world ageism.
VANS members and subscribers have been mailed their copy, but you can get yours on newsstands soon, or online today.
