Visual Arts News calls and updates
Visual Arts News is calling for submissions of pitches, artworks for artist pages, and members of the editorial committee. The Spring 2020 theme is SUSTENANCE. Visual Arts News invites all Atlantic Canadian artists to create new works for our upcoming issue of the magazine. This call is open to all Atlantic Canadian artists and accepted work will be highlighted as a two page colour spread printed within the magazine for distribution (1000 copies). Artists will receive an honorarium of $500 plus materials costs (up to $500).
We’re also looking for pitches, ideas, stories, profiles and exhibitions relating to the theme of sustenance in the arts in Atlantic Canada. We’d love to hear from new and seasoned writers, artists, students, and critical thinkers from New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island. Features, exhibition reviews and artist profiles are the most popular stories we accept. Pitches should be submitted by email to editor@visualartsnews.ca along with a brief bio and a writing sample. Please see our website for more information.
We’re looking for writers to join the Visual Arts News Editorial Committee. Committee volunteers meet remotely three times a year to select content for upcoming issues. Meeting virtually 3-5 times a year, 8-12 hours total. We prioritize applications from those who identify in their letter of interest as Indigenous, Black, Persons of Colour, 2SLGBTQIA+, and/or Persons with Disabilities. We’re also looking for writers who are engaged in the arts communities of New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, and PEI.
Deadline: November 8.
