Visual Arts Nova Scotia is participating in Giving Tuesday on the global day of giving. As you know, VANS works to support artists though professional development workshops and our Mentorship Program, promoting them through the Artist Pages and Visual Arts News magazine, providing opportunities through PAINTS (Professional Artists in the Schools), advocating on their behalf, and more.

We could use your help to spread the word about VANS. Please let people know why you believe in our work and encourage them to support us too!  If you’re already a member of VANS then your membership fee helps support our programming (THANK YOU!). If you’re not a member, consider joining this Tuesday and make a donation (you can specify area of greatest need, PAINTS, or the Artist Emergency Fund).

Over 30% of our total expenses are fees paid out directly to artists in Atlantic Canada and with more donations, more artists can be paid! Here are some examples of how your donation could support an artist at VANS:

• $20 supports a meal reimbursement for a volunteer
• $30 supports two hours of childcare expenses for a parent volunteer
• $50 supports a membership/ workshop bursary
• $80 supports one hour of an artist working in schools
• $100 supports an artist’s honorarium
• $240 supports a three-hour PAINTS project
• $275 supports a writer’s fee for Visual Arts News
• $372 supports a CARFAC professional artist fee for a workshop, panel, or presentation
• $500 supports one month of Artist Emergency Funding
