Griffonage

with Kellianne Land

Grade levels: , ,
Teaching Methods:
Artist Location: Yarmouth
Max # of students: 30
Timeframe: 6 hours, specific schedule to be discussed with teacher

The objectives of this workshop are to: free creativity by expressive mark making, redesigning through collage, examine compositions and embellishing with various mediums.

To do this students will create two abstract expressionist pieces on two different papers. They will use pastels, pencil crayons and inks for this first step.
The pieces will be allowed to dry. During this time we will discuss the initial pieces.
The next step the students will cut and tear the pieces into equal strips.
These pieces will be laid out and arranged on larger paper creating a whole new design. The students will then glue the entire design on the large paper.
While this dries we will look at the designs and discuss what we see.
Next we will use acrylic medium and gesso with palette knives to create marks and areas of translucent colour to add another dimension and additional calligraphy to the work.
