PAINTS Project Call: Art Recess
With students across Nova Scotia now learning from home, PAINTS is responding with a new initiative: Art Recess! Artists will put together art activities that can be completed in about 15 minutes. They’ll make videos to lead students through the art activities using materials that would be readily available in most homes of school-age children.
There are two streams of artists who can apply.
Stream 1: Current PAINTS artists who have an approved online workshop.
Stream 2: Artists who have current experience leading art workshops online, and who identify as Black, Indigenous, People of Colour, Queer, Acadian, Newcomer and/or Deaf or living with a disability.
We want to roll this program out quickly. Applications will be assessed as they are received with a final deadline of May 20, 2021.
The selected artists will be paid a flat fee of $200 to create the instructional video and any needed “handouts” to be emailed to teachers. These videos will be available to educators and parents through VANS’ YouTube channel. They will be publicly accessible until July 2, 2022. Any further use would be negotiated separately with the artist.
