We’re seeking expressions of interest from VANS member artists to support our new annual fundraising initiative – limited edition tote bags and sketchbooks!

Artists will receive 15% of gross sales in accordance with the CARFAC fee schedule – estimated at $300-$500. A new artist and design will be selected coinciding with our annual membership promotion each year.

Artists are invited to submit the following for the Fundraising Committee’s consideration:

• 5-10 images of past related illustration or design work (.jpg/pdf)

• Rough sketch of a portrait orientation CMYK design which includes the VANS logo (downloadable here)

• Brief artist bio

Applications may be sent to Carri MacKay at communicate@visualarts.ns.ca by August 14, 2023.

Terms:
Visual Arts Nova Scotia will select the artist for this year’s design by August, 28, 2023.

The selected artist will be expected to provide their fully realized designs by September 4, 2023. VANS may request one round of revisions by September 7, 2023 with final delivery of print-ready files from the artist by September 12, 2023.

A $150 deposit will be paid to artists upon acceptance of the final design by September 29, 2023.
Presales will begin October 2023 with a deadline to order by November 28, 2023. Artists will be paid the remaining 15% of gross sales by December 18, 2023.

The design of merchandise will be featured on our website and in our annual reports as well as any associated marketing and fundraising materials for the 2023 – 24 fiscal year. Artists will be credited for their work anywhere it appears.

Tote bags and sketchbooks pre-sold with our membership drive will be delivered by mail in late January 2024.

Image specifications from printer (for the selected design only):

For the tote bags:

• 300 dpi minimum
• 10 x 10″ MAX area (image will be centred on tote)
• TIFF or vector file
• any type/fonts need to be outlined
• VANS logo on the other side

For the sketchbooks (5.35 x 8″):

• 300 dpi minimum
• CMYK or greyscale (if applicable)
• 5.475 x 8.25″ (for a full bleed image) OR 4.85 x 7.5″ no bleed (i.e. will not go to edge of cover) – this is for the front cover only
• 10.95 x 8.25″ (for a full bleed image) OR 10.2 x 7.5″ no bleed (i.e. will not go to edge of cover) – this is for the front and back cover, but will include the VANS logo on the back
• any type/fonts need to be outlined
• TIFF or vector file
