Call for Art Recess video workshop proposals
Visual Arts Nova Scotia is excited to be opening a call for artists to be part of ART RECESS. We piloted this program in the spring of last year with little time and great results. We’re building on that success. The idea is for artists to create art activities for children and/or youth that can be worked through in about the amount of time that recess usually is in schools – 15 minutes. These art activities should use materials that would be readily available in most homes in Nova Scotia with school-age children.
We’re thrilled to be working with Israel Ekanem of Ubuntu Media to record and edit the workshop videos. You can learn more about them here. https://www.ubuntumedia.com/
There are two streams of artists who can apply.
Stream 1: Current PAINTS artists.
Stream 2: Artists who have current experience leading art workshops online/creating digital content and who are part of an identified priority community. The priority communities for this call include: BIPOC, 2SLGBTQ+, Acadian, Newcomer, Deaf and disabled communities.
The deadline to apply is January 11, 2022. Up to ten (10) Art Recess workshops will be created.
The artists will create the instructional video and any needed “handouts” to be shared.
These videos will be made available to educators and students through VANS YouTube channel. They will be accessible for a period of five (5) years. The fee for the creation of the video content and the licensing fee for the broadcast period is $575 per artist.
