Sarah Mosher
Artist Statement
My artistic practise has two main focuses: sewing and wood. In my sewing work, I take an improvisational approach to quilt making. I piece things together as I go, not planning too much ahead. The process of sewing limits what I can create and I love working within those limitations, creating unique geometry. When working with wood my goal is to have the finished piece be accessible to people with low or no vision. I start with drawing with a fat marker on small paper so that when the drawing is enlarged it can be viewed from a distance or by someone who has very low vision. I trace the drawing onto wood and then using the shapes in layers I create what I call 3D drawings.
