Nancy MacDonald
Artist Statement
Living in Nova Scotia I am deeply moved by the landscapes. I feel the light, the colours and the smell of salt air and pine trees. I often take photos for reference but they never seem to capture all that I'm seeing or feeling. I've been working on ways to translate what is in my mind's eye into images so I can express the joy that I feel after being moved by the beauty of place. I have been manipulating my reference photos to enhance certain accepts and abstract others as a stepping stone to create ideas, to inform the marks I will make with my paint.

As a sensitive soul, I am deeply affected by my surroundings and as an artist one can't help but want to share the magic that this place evokes in you".
