Artist Statement

As a painter greatly inspired by the artists of the impressionism era, I am constantly inspired by the world and nature around me. My name is Matt Marquette and I am a passionately hardworking artist based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. My chosen medium is Oil paint, which I use to bring my creative visions to life. With each brushstroke, I aim to evoke a range of emotions. Drawing from my personal experiences, memories, and the beauty I find in everyday life, my artwork reflects a unique perspective and invites viewers to see the world through my eyes. Through my artistic process, I aim to convey the physical appearance of my subjects and also the emotions and stories they hold. I am constantly evolving as an artist, seeking new techniques and pushing the boundaries of my creativity.
