Margo Bradley
Artist Statement
I am inspired by the texture of paint and its application on a variety of surfaces, the exploration of colour mixing and the outcome of a created image. I aim to create paintings that create mood and emotion, and that record memories of places and events. I consider my paintings as interpretations of what I see, a snapshot in time that can be shared with interested observers. Influenced by simplicity, my subject matter is inspired by dramatic landscapes from where I live and travel.
Painting primarily with acrylics on pre-stretched primed canvas with a coloured ground, I sketch freehand scenes using the sight-size drawing method starting with a grisaille. I am interested in achieving accurate perspective and solid composition while creating atmosphere and evoking mood.
