Louise Trotter
Artist Statement
There’s a story in the photo. I’m the narrator, or the protagonist, or simply an observer standing in the shadows. You won’t see me in the story because I’m behind the lens, but I’m there, because it’s my experience - it’s my story.
I look at the world differently through my camera and aspire to capture the intersection of what I’m seeing with what I’m feeling.
My stories and fine art images are my artistic vignettes, inspired by moments that are propelled by my curiosity. It’s a passion that defines who I am, my visual expression, my quest to preserve moments of awe.
Biography
Louise is inspired by the unfamiliar and will wander down any path she hasn't been down before.
She sees life differently from behind the lens – becoming immersed in the details or gaining a completely different perspective. She applies her love for photography while simultaneously indulging her passion for travel. She travels extensively to exotic, remote and sometimes more traditional places, and it’s those moments when travelling, either near or afar that she's transformed as a creative.
She doesn’t have a pseudonym but considers her corporate career as the cloak that conceals her true identity as a creative artist. Her travels lead to the creation of fine art images capturing the essence of a moment and stories that are tangential to her experiences.
Louise is currently travelling worldwide following a Nova Scotian who rode his bicycle around the world in 1899 and documenting her adventures in the Karl Chronicles.
