Artist Statement

With a painterly style that also includes an element of realism, Lisa-Maj Roos focuses on expressiveness, lush colour and thick, juicy brushwork. Beginning with a good foundation, she applies paint or pastel with a confident stroke — playing with colour, surface quality, design and simplified form. The looseness of these strokes reveals the characteristics of the artist's style.

Maintaining a studio gallery in the beautiful Annapolis Valley in Nova Scotia, Canada, many of her pieces can be found in private collections throughout Canada and abroad.

Biography

Lisa-Maj Roos is a Canadian artist specializing in oils, encaustics, and chalk pastels. Inspired by her many travels around Canada and the world, each new journey becomes a template for her artwork; a colourful voyage captured by her distinctive style and artistic expression.

After having achieved success as a professional artist in Calgary, Alberta, Lisa-Maj now resides in the Annapolis Valley in the beautiful province of Nova Scotia, devoting herself full time in the pursuit of making art.
