Liam Ross

Artist Statement

Liam Ross is a Nova Scotian artist and teacher who works with paper-related art/craft processes and foraged art materials. His practice is informed by the legacies of life, work, and activism in Nova Scotia and the relationship formed here between the sea, the land, and the people. His work is inspired by his family and friends, the beauty of the world around him, and the Taoist writings of Laozi. He splits his time between Cape Breton and Halifax.

Biography

Liam Ross (b. 1997) is a Nova Scotian maker, teacher, and curator. In 2020, Liam was selected to take part in the Visual Arts Nova Scotia Mentorship Program, and in 2021 he was the assistant curator for the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia permanent exhibition TYRANNY. In 2022, he joined NSCAD University as an instructor in the Extended Studies Program to bring accessible art and craft education to the local community. He splits his time between Cape Breton and Halifax.
