Kristen Herrington

Artist Statement

Kristen Herrington’s abstract art is a conversation piece; a representation of values; an extension of ourselves. Her fluid style uses liquid acrylic paint mixed with a variety of mediums to create a lab of potions that will ultimately dance together on the canvas. The paint is poured onto a flat canvas, establishing a base layer. Further materials such as ink, oils and alcohol are added to create dimension and a story-line. Herrington’s paintings urge her audience to think about their life experience beyond the body. As a single-sided-deaf artist, she wants to focus on how we feel spiritually and mindfully as we extend beyond our physical senses. The “flow” of the paint is symbolic of existing in our collective flow state and how that state of mind can transport us to places outside our temporary bodies.
