Artist Statement

"The artist must train not only his eye but also his soul."
-Wassily Kandinsky

This collection of visual art is an interplay of the inner and outer worlds.
The abstract allows me to freely express, be spontaneous and engage my designer's mind.
The figurative flows more freely when I allow myself the indulgence of the abstract.
Both have their challenges.
Textures, colours, calligraphy, accidents, intentions are in both expressions.
The layers of the natural world are infinite and their effect on me pours our from the vast interior of my emotional being. In the "pouring out" I allow myself to playfully and strategically form compositions.
The figurative pays homage to something more specific. Perhaps more of a cultural or natural observation, telling a story.
The abstract constructions engage the imagination differently each time. Perhaps seen as a strange language that the soul may find familiar.
