Katelynne Cagliostro

Artist Statement

As a PAINTS Artist, I would love to share my passion for illustration and comics. I would be happy to collaborate with teachers to create exciting and engaging workshops around drawing/illustration, daily journaling and comic art. In my practice, I use comics as a form of daily journaling, documenting moments within my life. I want to inspire creativity in everyday life and show students that everybody has a story that they would like to share. No story is too small! Some project ideas we could explore are daily journaling (relating it to comics and drawing emotions), creating a class comic book (allowing collaborative art-making) and making zines (where I can share basic bookbinding techniques). During the workshops, I will share my work with the students. I will also show other examples from other genres, exploring all the possibilities of comics. I will provide guidance and encouragement as they put their ideas to paper, sharing helpful tips and suggestions. The projects for each workshop can be tailored to the time limits within each classroom, with workshops being around 1-3 hrs.
