Jen Yang

Artist Statement

Although life can bring stress, chaos, and confusion, I always try to find a way to be positive and to be myself. It is a form of creative practice that uses color and style to telling stories. I like to use bright colors and high contrast in abstract and representational paintings that combine figures and cityscapes. I work in a range of sizes.

A key aspect of my artwork is combining post impressionism with patterns or abstract textures which gives viewers a strong eye attraction. Naturally, my time in Canada also had a heavy influence on my work as an artist. I am experienced in using oil, acrylics, charcoal drawing, printmaking, and graphic design.
