Emma Bass
Artist Statement
Emma uses an interdisciplinary approach to creating. She is interested in the relationships between our sensory experiences, material culture and the places and spaces that we occupy. Using needle felting, stitching, printmaking, ink and markers, Emma creates work that reflects the rich and dynamic inner lives of ourselves and the natural world.
Biography
Emma Bass lives and works in Halifax, NS. Emma received a MA in Cultural Studies from Queen's University. Emma has developed an interdisciplinary practice that combines writing, research, textiles, printmaking, drawing, and painting. Her work examines relationships between the natural world, material culture, and our sensory experiences of both. She is also interested in community-focused projects that create opportunities for collaborative explorations. She has been involved in organizing community art projects and workshops, contributed to arts publications, and shown her work in Nova Scotia and Quebec.
