Connie Burnett

Artist Statement

I like to work with watercolors because I like the transparency of the light. I paint things or scenes that I enjoy looking at which is why I called one of my solo shows "Visual Pleasure: Scenes of the Burin Peninsula". I like my work to have a sense of being alive, and also to offer a sense of peace and tranquility. A friend once told me that when she looked at my paintings, they reached out to her and said "Stop, look, rest, relax from whatever is bothering you.... just see." I am not good at writing artists' statements because, for me, my work is my statement.
