Artist Statement

My silk collages, soft sculptures and installations are deeply rooted in the delicate balance of the natural world.
Making by hand is central to my process grounding me in the texture of silk, linen and wool textiles. My work centers on the viewer experience emphasizing connection and relationships. In a digitally saturated world, I aim to offer a tactile, intentional sensory experience rooted in physicality.
My artistic practice is informed by formal art training and art history, but the actual making is intuitive. I paint on textiles, then deconstruct and collage the fabric using machine embroidery and hand stitching, transforming it through an open, playful and exploratory process. I repurpose all fragments of thread and fabric as a commitment to a sustainable art practice.
As an artist I am committed to quality materials and excellence in the completed work. This commitment also informs the workshops I teach, where I encourage participants to have fun while exploring their creativity. In addition to teaching, I have exhibited my work in both solo and group shows at various galleries, highlighting my dedication to artistic growth and community engagement. My work is in private collections in Canada and Internationally.
