Artist Statement

The driving force behind my paintings is a strong interest in human beings; the human spirit and its relationship with its environment.
Utilizing expressive colours my work examines daily subjects expressed in a contemporary style. My colour pallet is heavily influenced by spending my formative years in the Tropics and having a strong fascination for graffiti art in my later years.
There is also a desire to represent the unconventional in my works, I strive to present a form of beauty that is seldom spoken about or shown in the media. As a lover of the human form and its interaction with its environment, I believe that the built environment is an extension of human expression. For this reason, I constantly seek out new places to inspire my art.

Biography

During his early years Boma was quickly drawn to the art of comic books which he spent time creating many volumes of his own superhero tales. Boma became fascinated with graffiti arts being the visual element of the music of his teenage years. Further interest was cultivated in arts during his under graduate art and design courses while studying Architecture.
After completing his degree in Architecture, Boma delved more into his artistic pursuit while working at Dada Art studios
Being an avid traveller, he is passionate about recording the subjects of his travels which include interesting faces and Architecture.
As an Artist, Boma’s mission is to express the beauty of humanity and human achievement through his paintings.
Boma lives and works in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
