Andrew Maize

Artist Statement

Andrew Maize is an transdisciplinary artist, educator, curator and kite flying enthusiast. His playful, collaborative and process-oriented approach to making art considers the relationships between language, place, people, technology and motion. As an arts educator and organizer, he has been involved in collaborative projects that engage communities with art in non-traditional spaces.

Biography

Andrew Maize graduated with a BFA from NSCAD University in Halifax NS in 2012, and a MFA from the University of Guelph in 2021, and from kindergarten in 1989. He is the recipient of multiple grants and awards, including from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, Canada Council for the Arts, Arts Nova Scotia and the Ontario Arts Council. He was shortlisted for the RBC Painting Competition in 2015 and 2016. He is a board member of the Lunenburg School of the Arts.
