Creating art brings me solstice, inspiration and tranquility. It can sometimes bring frustration and impatience. But in the end, when it all comes together, it makes me smile!

Biography

Recreating what I saw around me came naturally at a young age. Recognizing this my parents gave me the tools to enhance and further my abilities. A camera to capture images, and lessons from a local artist to develop my skills. Growing up in Central Ontario, I loved being outdoors, animals, nature and the constant changing sky. My first oil painting was commissioned by the principal of my school, at the age of 13. That gave me inspiration. Work took my family west which opened up a whole new landscape for me to admire and try to duplicate. Majestic mountains, brightly coloured fields of grains, big open airy skies, and stunning wildlife. My skills were further developed in Alberta with another local artist where I took more advanced lessons. By the time I was in my late teens I had already sold several pieces through commission work. Fast forward through life, and my passion became a weekend hobby while career and family became a priority. As I got older, I was fortunate that my work took me to places all over Canada, capturing the beauty of what each province had to offer. Now life has allowed me the opportunity to dedicate more of my time to work on what I truly love, creating art. I work in oil, acrylic and watercolour mediums, and always have a camera by my side. I look at my world through squinty eyes, always looking for the light and the shadow.
