To support our Artist Emergency Fund and share our resources with those in need, VANS is hosting three special book sales on Instagram on August 15 (10 AM), August 22 (10 AM), and August 29 (10 AM). On August 15th, we’re kicking off the first sale on VANS’ Instagram. Each week, we’ll feature ten books in a 24-hour flash sale, available through our Instagram story.  If interested, please send a direct message to VANS’ Instagram page to purchase a specific book. These books were collected by VANS or sent to Visual Arts News over the years and some have been borrowed by members as part of our resource library. All proceeds will directly benefit our Artist Emergency Fund.

How to Participate:
1. Donate: Contribute suggested amount to receive a book. Donations can be made via e-transfer at communicate@visualarts.ns.ca, in cash during in-person pickup, or through our Square card reader.
2. Pick Up: Books can be collected at our office (1113 Marginal Rd, Halifax, NS B3H 4P7) within two weeks of payment. Please email us to arrange a pickup time. Note that we’re unable to mail books.

Important Details:

• No taxable donation receipts will be provided.
• Books not picked up within two weeks will be donated.
• All sales are final; no refunds.

A little about the Artist Emergency Fund
VANS established the Artist Emergency Fund (AEF) to assist artists in financial need arising from severe illness, an accident resulting in inability to work or help with studio replacement in case of a disaster, such as fire, where there is no insurance.  Artists are able to apply for short-term assistance, up to $500/month for three months maximum.
