A Call for New PAINTS Artists

ARTISTS!

Cole Harbour students PAINTS project

Are you interested in working with students?  The PAINTS (Professional Artists In The Schools) Program is seeking professional artists and fine craft artisans who want to offer workshops to schools in their home community. Our program is available to schools throughout the province, for grades Primary – 12, so we need artists everywhere.

Some artists opt to offer workshops both online and in person. You decide what age groups you’d like to work with and how you want to structure your workshop. Most workshops are 3- 4 hours in duration and involve working with a full public school class of students at one time.

Artists are paid $80/hour for their contact time with students. We also provide support for the materials, and travel of the artists when necessary.

PAINTS forges links between the professional artists’ own work and the workshops that they lead with the students. We want to provide the richest experience possible through these small programs. Currently, we have a roster of over 20 workshops available for schools across NS. A project can be with one class, or a small group of students. Note: If an artist is based more than a one-hour drive from a school, their workshop would only be available remotely. We also have an Equity Subsidy program to provide 100% of the funding to schools serving communities with a significant BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Colour) student population.

For more information see our Getting Started for Artists page. To apply, fill out the online application hereSubmit by September 6, 2024 to be able to deliver workshops this fall.
