Artist Statement

I make art that seeks the abolition of the private ownership of art. I work in the tradition of post-contemporary art theory. My recent work consists of interventions on older artworks.

See (After Kennedy) and (After Ferguson) for examples of previously authored lithograph prints, treated as found objects, that I have folded, torn, and bound as zines or artbooks. In these works I seek to create new art theory texts through constructive interventions upon older artworks.

My art practice seeks critical, constructive, and future-oriented action.

Biography

Owen Skeen (he/him) is an art theorist and an organizer. His multidisciplinary practice engages theoretical and practical intersections between art and insurgent political action.

Owen graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from NSCAD University in 2026 after serving two terms as President of the NSCAD Student Union.
