Artist Statement

Maria is a Nova Scotia-based artist working primarily with acrylics, mainly focusing on portraying landscapes in an interpretative manner. Her artistic approach combines process‑driven experimentation with observational research. She gathers materials, documents terrain, and works responsively in the studio, translating impressions, sensations, and lived experiences into layered visual forms.

Biography

Maria graduated from OCAD university in 2008 and opened a teaching practice around that time. Currently she is the owner and the main art instructor at IN2ARTZ, a studio based in Halifax, NS.
