You are invited to be a part of VANS’ 50th Anniversary logo!  Better Drea.ms Design Studio is designing our logo to capture what we are celebrating – 50 years of Visual Arts Nova Scotia’s existence. Here is Better Drea.ms’ concept brief: “Using 50 unique interpretations of the ‘0’ in ’50’ becomes a living showcase of the talent within the VANS community. Each hand-rendered form reflects a different style, medium, or craft, turning the logo into a gallery”.

You can paint, draw, sketch, scribble and/or doodle your design in any colour (although we will use a black and white version of the logo most often). Here is a template that you can use for your ideas and print out as your submission, if you prefer. The template is just to indicate the shape that we are looking for, so it isn’t necessary to print and draw on top of the template provided. For the office, we have printouts of the template with the “safe zone” blackened out so that artists can put a piece of blank paper on top and see the shape of the ‘0’ through it.  The submitted designs will be scanned and integrated into the VANS 50th Anniversary logo as it will most often appear electronically. It can be mailed to our offices at 1113 Marginal Road, Halifax, NS B3H4P7, or a high-resolution photo (300 dpi) in a JPG or PNG format emailed to vans@visualarts.ns.ca.

We will be using the various ‘0’s as part of the 50th Anniversary logo that we use on the VANS website, on documents, and social media so 2D pieces are preferred (actual 3D pieces won’t work) but an image/ photo of a 3D ‘0’ could work.  You can submit as many times as you want.
