Class Methodology
1.Basic Shape Learning: Instruct students on how to simplify complex images using geometric shapes.
2.Composition Analysis: Analyze and replicate the compositions of various images.
3.Emphasis on Details: Practice adding details to each element and using effective expression techniques.

Expected Outcomes
Support students in confidently tackling a variety of images and styles.
Provide opportunities to enhance both expressive and creative skills.
Through this approach, students will develop their artistic expression abilities more easily.

First, the class print a self-portrait or a chosen image in black and white, sized to fit a wooden panel or paper.(Please gather the image files and send them to me before the class, and I will print them for use during the session.)

Next,Fix the panel and the image in place, then place carbon paper in between to draw the image.
Students will be able to verify the exact positions and shapes, and based on that, they will complete the image using paint and various materials.

At the end, students will display their work and explain their images. They will share their experiences and the sense of accomplishment regarding how effectively they represented their chosen images through the use of carbon paper.

About the artist - Bidna Choi

She is a contemporary artist born and raised in South Korea. She received formal art education from Incheun Art High School and Hongik University, where she specialized in Fine Arts.

Ten years ago, she relocated to Canada to support her husband’s studies and after living in BC, She settled in the beautiful Nova Scotia province three years ago.

As an immigrant and mother of four, she had been unable to continue working but she became a member of 2022 Nocturne-NOISEmakers that is the support of the Immigrant artist Support Program, was able to revive her artistic practice after a period of hiatus.

She continues to develop a unique artistic practice rooted in personal memory and emotional exploration in halifax surrounded by its stunning coastal landscapes.
