Artist Statement
In 2018, I completed my first documentary film Paula with the Globe and Mail and the National Film Board of Canada, which debuted at the Lunenburg Documentary Festival in September 2019. This project began with the Globe and Mail as a feature story of a transgender woman in rural New Brunswick and her journey towards transitioning. Following the story’s success, I pitched this to the NFB to turn it into a short film, and it later won two national Gold awards at the 2018 Digital Media Awards.
I began work on his second documentary film project about Freeman Patterson – a renowned New Brunswick nature photographer, Order of Canada recipient, award-winning gardener, writer, and environmentalist. The forty-four-minute documentary is currently airing on CBC Television and CBC Gem and received a gold award for Best Short Documentary from the Montreal Independent Film Festival 2023.
