Tanya Keigan

Artist Statement

My work explores the relationship between light and shadow—both literal and metaphorical. Using bold colour, hand-lettering, and luminous materials that reveal hidden layers in darkness, I create surfaces that invite prolonged attention and reward patient looking. The daylight message offers connection; the night-time revelation offers complexity. This duality reflects my belief that clarity emerges after navigating uncertainty, and that finding our way through the dark is a shared human journey.

I view art as essential communication outside institutional gatekeeping—a public right accessible to anyone willing to meet it with curiosity. My practice draws from nature, music, street art traditions, as well as philosophical and spiritual inquiry, collapsing millennia of visual wisdom into contemporary form. What matters most is not what the work says, but what it asks the viewer to discover within themselves.

Work can be viewed in person by appointment only. Digital reproduction cannot capture the dimensional and experiential qualities central to her practice.
