Artist Statement

As an artist living in rural Nova Scotia, Canada I’m drawn to faces that carry stories — the odd, unique, and timeworn ones that feel bigger than life and impossible to ignore.

Biography

My life has always been shaped by making—from hand-coding websites in the early days of the internet to cultivating a garden or designing and building our home. But I am always pulled back to the immediate, physical act of painting.

The online world early on connected me to global communities through mail art, book arts, and assemblage. Working with forgotten fragments and layered textures taught me how stories are etched into surfaces.

Today, that background in rich, layered textures has evolved into a dedicated focus on expressive portraiture. Utilizing high-saturation pigments and vibrant underpaintings, my current work brings those unforgettable characters forward. Everything I have done before has prepared me for the portraits I am painting today.
