Artist Statement

As an artist living in rural Nova Scotia, Canada I’m drawn to faces that carry stories — the ones that feel bigger than life and impossible to ignore.

Biography

I live and work in rural Nova Scotia. After 30 years on our farm Meadowood, my husband and I designed and built our current lakeside home. My life has always been shaped by making—renovating, gardening, baking, farmsteading and designing websites in the early days of the internet—I’m always pulled back to the tactile, to the feeling of holding something real in my hands.

The online world opened a doorway for me to likeminded artists worldwide. Through collaborative projects, mail art and round robins, I traversed the worlds of book arts, mixed media and assemblage using old photos, forgotten fragments, rusty metal—things with stories etched into their surfaces.

After wandering through encaustic, gel prints, and collage, I realized what I longed for was my own hand—my own lines, my own faces—woven into the work. It feels like everything I've done before has prepared me for NOW.
