On Friday October 17, 2009 , artists and art supporters gathered to acknowledge the recipients of the 2nd Annual VANS Awards at the Nocturne Launch Party. Awards categories include Emerging Artist, Outstanding Year, Art Educator and the 2009 VANS Honour Roll. VANS would like to acknowledge the support of Nocturne, Propeller Brewery and Bruce Jollimore Photography.

Outstanding Year Award: Yo Rodeo
This award celebrates a visual artist who has enjoyed an exceptional year, with much artistic growth, at least one exhibition and critical recognition.

Art Educator of the Year : Karen Schlick
This award celebrates an individual who demonstrates an exceptional contribution and commitment to arts education.

Emerging Artist Award: Mark Stebbins
This award recognizes an emerging artist who, in the early stages of his career, demonstrates exceptional talent and accomplishments as well as a unique artistic expression and a commitment to the arts.

VANS Honour Roll: Andrew David Terris
The VANS Honour Roll recognizes the distinguished lifetime contribution to the visual arts in Nova Scotia by individuals, groups or organizations.
